It’s more common than we think and is often perceived as an affair, but I’m here to break that stigma.

The False Idea of Marriage

When we imagine finding our one true love, we tend to picture having a big white wedding, living in a big house with a white picket fence, kids running around, and having our happily ever after. Then you realize, marriage isn’t some Disney princess fairytale, at least not when it’s with the wrong person. Not when you haven’t built a solid foundation.

Most of us don’t understand how important it is to have a sacred soul connection before getting married. We often get married because we think we’ve found this person that seems great on paper; they treat us right (for the most part), we can bring them home to mom, our family loves them, they have a great job, a good head on their shoulders, maybe we have the same cultural background, and they take care of us. What more could we possibly want?

Then in some cases you think you’re not getting any younger and want to have kids before you’re 30–35, so you settle with the person that has some good qualities even if they’re not “the one.” You start to think there probably isn’t better out there anyway so why not? It just “makes sense.” These are some examples of why we choose potential over waiting for THE ONE.
